VASE collection 2026

26 Sept 2026

Hello everyone.

In February of this year, I had the pleasure of introducing my glass egg pieces (ZERO) at my solo exhibition.

Six months have passed since then, and today I would like to share our ABUKU VASE collection with you.

For the VASE collection 2026, the primary pillar is "contrast"—one of the core philosophies of ABUKU Art Thinking.

It is my hope that you will feel a subtle sense of intrigue or a quiet moment of curiosity.

Please enjoy this collection as a series of vases designed to heighten both space and awareness.

Research:

Mass-produced industrial goods versus handcrafted work—what is it that humans truly find beautiful?

The precision of industrial production and the warmth of handcraft both, without question, move the human heart.

[Industrial Products] — Order, Security, Intellect —> Enveloping the "Head" (Thought)

[Handcraft] — Fluctuation, Affection, Life —> Stirring the "Heart" (Sensation)

Human beings are inherently contradictory.

We desire the protection of an orderly, safe world, yet we feel suffocated by absolute perfection, yearning for the spontaneous, unpredictable vitality of chaos.

History:

The Agricultural Revolution & Ancient Civilizations:

Humans began utilizing straight lines and geometry to measure land and observe the heavens for agricultural calendars.

Ancient Greece & Rome:

Geometry was elevated from mere utility to philosophy and aesthetics.

The Industrial Revolution & Modernism:

The focus shifted toward function and efficiency through mechanical mass production—exemplified by Bauhaus and modern design, where form followed function.

The Contemporary Era:

Precision and geometric exactness have become so ubiquitous that a reaction has emerged: a return to distortion, expressed through craft.

The ABUKU Thought Process:

To imbue geometry (order) with the distortions, rough textures, fluidity, and bubbles (fluctuation) of handcraft.

To contrast these opposing forces and present them as a tangible form with a strong, definitive presence.

The Resulting Phenomenon:

Its dignified stance tightens the surrounding negative space, accentuating "Silence."

The subtle sense of contradiction hidden within sharpens the viewer's "Sensibility."

— These are the reflections that guided our creative process and were sublimated into these works.

Thank you for reading.
